Fwd: CoLA meeting 8/7

Some members of the VA Tea Party Patriots Federation have been meeting to discuss Constitutional and Legislative Action (CoLA) and since several memebers of the Peninsula Tea Party group may be able to contribute to this effort I'm putting it out for anyone interested in representing our group in this committee. Please post to to one of the @peninsulateaparty.org blogs and let us know if you can participate and then keep us updated on progress.  We can have at least a representative from each of Peninsula Tea Party - Newport News, York Tea Party, & Poquoson TPP.  I will also add this to calendar.  The meeting location is

Hanover Tavern

To Virginia Patriot Leaders:

Our next CoLA committee meeting will be on Saturday August 8th from 10-3 at the Hanover Tavern.  This meeting will have a two part focus.  The first will be to discuss the status of our proposed 2011 legislation and begin developing our Freedom Bills platform that will guide our legislative action for the next several years.  The second will be to develop a strategy for state wide communications during the general assembly session.  I will send an agenda a week before the meeting.  All are welcome to attend.  Please e-mail me if you plan to participate in this meeting so that I can get an accurate head count for lunch.

On an unrelated note VA has become part of the immigration debate.  Below is a Washington Post article that discusses Corey Stewarts' proposed "Rule of Law" legislation.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/07/09/AR2010070905518.html

Ken Cuccinelli has filed an Amicus Brief in support of the AZ law.

Edgar Doleman of the 99th District tea party has written a resolution in support of AZ's immigration law and encouraging VA to follow suit.  The Northumberland County Republican Committee has passed this resolution. I've attached it in case any of you would like to introduce a similar resolution in your local committees or present it to your Board of Supervisors for consideration as part of their 2011 legislative agenda.  Support from local representatives will help to put pressure on our state representatives to act.

Take Care,

Angie Parker

Fwd: Voter Registration and Poll Workers Needed

Subject: Voter Registration and Poll Workers Needed

Please read message below and act now!  The Dems have their plan in place and ready to go,  are we ready?  http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/07/15/AR2010071504564.html?wpisrc=nl_politics

Urgent Message for Virginia Tea Parties and Patriot Groups

Because of all the suspected voter fraud in the last election cycle here are some important goals everyone can strive for to try and insure valid elections in November.

Please urge all of your members that can be available to work polls to go to their local county registrar's office OR go to the registrar's website and signup to be an OFFICER OF ELECTION.   We all need to do this fairly soon because there is usually training involved.

OUR GOAL SHOULD BE TO HAVE AT LEAST ONE OF OUR MEMBERS AT EVERY POLLING PLACE IN THE STATE OF VIRGINIA.   There are numerous youtube videos of rules being broken at many polling places in the country-  One of the most famous of course is the Black Panthers in Philadelphia, but there are many more examples – and Obama posters IN the polling room!  We need to be inside the polls to insure the laws are followed!

Voter Registration Drives:

You can go online to order voter registration forms from the state board of elections in Va.

Colleges and Universities will have students returning next month.  Call and find out if you can have a table for your group and do voter registration drives.  College students can  register and vote in the district of their college  if they choose to.  Most students coming up to a Tea Party or Patriot table will probably be conservative.  Register them and remind them to vote on November 2nd.

Another registration opportunity – gun shows, gun clubs and sportsman type stores.   Believe it or not, there are an estimated 300,000 people in Va that have either a fishing, hunting license or concealed gun permit that are not registered to vote!

Last day to register is 22 days before election.(October 11th)

One of the Presidents first "community organizer" jobs was working for "Get Out The Vote."   It's time we make sure conservatives GET OUT AND VOTE, before it's too late.
